"It feels absolutely unreal to win the 102nd Women's Texas Am," said Le. "This was my first year playing so to come out with a win feels incredible."
Le admits she struggled throughout her qualifying round but knew that there was a ton of golf left to play. With a round of 78, the sophomore secured the 26th seed in the championship flight.
The Mansfield product cruised through her first match winning 3&2 against #7 seed and Midwestern State player, Tristan Gabbard.
Le advanced to the quarterfinals after beating out #10 seed, Madison Brown, as she came away with a 4&3 win giving up just one loss on the first hole.
The quarterfinal match was up and down with multiple holes won and lost for both players. However, Le came out on top as she won four of the last six holes to secure the match 3&1.
The UTA standout's momentum carried into the semifinals after tying the 18th hole to win the match one up and move on to the finals.
To commence finals action, Le took on #4 seed and University of Colorado Boulder commit, Sydney Givens. The sophomore got off to a rocky start as she lost the first two holes of the match. However, Le was able to regain control and take the lead after winning three consecutive holes. From there, Le soared to victory after winning holes 8, 10, 11, 14 to earn the 102nd Women's Texas Amateur Champion title.
"I've been playing really well recently and it's so special to see all the hard work pay off at this prestigious event and bring the trophy home," stated Le.
Undoubtedly, Le has already left her mark in just her first year at UTA acting as the leading scorer in all 10 tournaments of the 2022-23 season as well as finishing with a team-high scoring average of 76.77. The Texas native will go down as the first player in program history to win the Women's Texas Amateur.
