Lady Mavs Dominate, Cruise To A 72-54 Win Over Seattle U

SEATTLE, Wash. – The UT Arlington women's basketball team (8-8, 4-2 WAC) displayed dominance throughout the game on the way to a 72-54 win over Seattle U (1-14, 1-5 WAC) on Saturday inside the Redhawk Center.

With the victory, the Lady Mavs extended their winning streak to seven games and have climbed back to a .500 record. This also moves their conference record to two games over .500 and are currently sitting in fourth place in the updated WAC standings.

It was the team's third-largest victory of the season behind a 19-point victory over Stephen F. Austin and a 24-point win over Tarleton State.

Gia Adams led the charge for the Lady Mavs with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting and was 2-of-4 from deep. She also grabbed three rebounds, dished out four assists and had three steals. Adams was on fire the first half, going a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor and 2-for-2 from beyond the arc and having 16 points heading into the half.

In her homecoming, former Redhawk Taliyah Clark was second on the team with 14 points. She hit a pair of three-pointers and snagged four rebounds. Washington native, Kali Haizlip finished with six points and five rebounds.

Avery Brittingham finished with 10 points, marking the 16th time that she has registered double digits this season. Brittingham also corralled eight rebounds while dishing out six assists.

Adela Valkova finished with 10 points, her 7th straight game recording double digits. Valkova added to her league leading 23 blocks, adding four more today to move her total to 27 on the season. She finished with five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The Redhawks never led at any point during the game and only tied the game up once early in the first quarter, with 7:39 left in the quarter. From there, the Lady Mavs went on a 13-0 run sparked by an Adams made jumper in the paint.

The Lady Mavs scored 26 points off of Seattle turnovers and put up 30 points in the paint.
