ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's basketball team (9-9, 5-3 WAC) exacted a bit of revenge Saturday afternoon with a 74-65 win over Abilene Christian (9-9, 4-3 WAC) inside the College Park Center.
In doing so, the Lady Mavs avenged a 94-76 loss to the Wildcats on Nov. 29, 2023. They are now 10-8 all-time against ACU.
Gia Adams and
Taliyah Clark led the way for UTA with 17 points apiece. In 35 minutes of action, Adams finished with five rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block to go along with the 17 points on 8-for-15 from the floor and 1-for-3 from deep. Clark grabbed four rebounds to go along with her 17 points in 28 minutes.
Avery Brittingham produced nine points on 4-of-7 from the floor. She also added nine rebounds, five assists, four steals and one block in 29 minutes.
Nya Threatt finished with seven points and was 5-for-6 from the charity stripe. Threatt also tied her career high with four steals and dished out a conference-high four assists. Adela Valkova finished with six points on 3-of-7 shooting as well as grabbing one rebound, one steal and garnering two blocks.
Masengo Mutanda,
Hannah Humphrey and
Keiori Lee added some quality minutes off the bench, playing a key factor in the win. In 21 minutes, Mutanda finished with five points, one rebound and one assist. Humphrey finished with seven points and one steal in 14 minutes of action. Lee went 2-of-3 from the floor as well as a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line to finish with six points in 13 minutes of play. Lee also added two rebounds and one assist.
The Lady Mavs kept the Wildcats three-point shooting at bay, holding ACU to 26.9-percent from deep compared to the 51.4-percent from the matchup earlier this season. UTA also dominated down low, outscoring the Wildcats by 28, 50-22, in the paint.
The game, which featured five lead changes and two ties, saw ACU lead for the majority of the first quarter before the Lady Mavs would take the lead with 5:12 left in the second quarter. UTA never trailed again after that, going up by as many 13 points in the fourth quarter.

- Brittingham is 53 points away from 1000 in her career.
- The victory now gives the Lady Mavs 100 wins inside the College Park Center.
NEXT UP
The Lady Mavs will hit the road for one game next week when they head to Arizona to take on Grand Canyon from inside the Global Credit Union Arena. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. central time.
