ARLINGTON – UT Arlington head men's golf coach Casey Devoll has already added to his 2024-25 roster as Taiwan native Jen Chie Huang has signed with the Mavericks and is set to begin his freshman year with UTA in the fall.
 
Huang, who also goes by Jerry, already boasts a highly decorated amateur career at the high school, local, national and international levels.
 
In each of the past three years Huang has finished either as medalist or runner-up in the Taiwan National Senior High Championship – 1st (2021), 2nd (2022) and 2nd (2023). Internationally, Huang has represented Taiwan at the Asian Junior Golf Team Championship in South Korea and his local Tainan City in the National Sport Games, finishing in 3rd place.
 
At the 2023 FCG (Future Champions Golf) Callaway World Championship from Rancho Mirage, Calif., Huang tied for 14th among the best 15-18 year olds on the globe with rounds of 71-68-72: 211 (-5).
 
"Jen Chie's swing is off-the-charts good and extremely fundamentally solid," said Devoll, who has six international golfers on this year's team. "His body build is terrific as well; his work in the weight room is evident. Jen Chie's scoring average is great, and I expect him to make an immediate impact on our program."
 
The 5-foot-9 Huang is on pace to graduate from CTBC International Academy later this year, and he has already garnered a Taiwan National Second Team selection in 2024.
