Mavs Sweep Seattle U For Tenth-Straight Victory

SEATTLE – The UT Arlington volleyball team (19-2, 9-0 WAC) continued to roll through conference play with its sixth-consecutive sweep (25-23, 25-23, 25-13) over the Seattle U Redhawks (5-14, 3-6 WAC) this Thursday to remain unbeaten in Western Athletic Conference play.

The Mavs have now rattled off ten-straight wins in their fourteenth sweep of the season. Additionally, The Mavs have won their last 19 sets and have won 30 of their last 34 sets.

In the win, the Mavs maintained a balance attack throughout the match with 38 kills spread between six different players. Cansu Günaydin and Brianna Ford led the squad with nine kills apiece while Sjakkie Donkers poured in seven. Middle Blocker's Paige Reagor (6) and Sophie Ocampo (2) accounted for eight kills and Mollie Blank picked up five kills for just the third time this season.

With nine kills in the match, Brianna Ford (1,608) becomes just the third player in program history with at least 1,600 kills.

In the sweep, Blank provided 25  out of the 34 assists and picked up six digs, Samantha Glenn had a team-high 11 digs.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH
"Proud of this team," said head coach J.T. Wenger. "After a slow start, we really regrouped to beat a talented Seattle U team. Our ball control steadied throughout the match and it allowed our setter and attackers to terminate in the seam."

NEXT UP
The Mavs will make a quick turnaround to face off against the Utah Valley Wolverines (15-6, 6-3 WAC) on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. CT at the Lockhart Arena in Orem, Utah.
