ARLINGTON, Texas – Gia Adams earned her second consecutive Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Newcomer of the Week award, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
A guard from Cypress, Texas, Adams averaged 21 points, two rebounds, 3.5 assists and one steal for the Lady Mavs, who split a pair of games against California Baptist and Stephen F. Austin this past week. She also went an impressive 7-of-12 from deep for the week.
In the loss against California Baptist, Adams tallied 24 points, two rebounds and two steals while dishing out five assists. In the win at Stephen F. Austin, Adams put up 18 points, grabbed two rebounds and dished out two assists in 36 minutes of action.
For the season, Adams leads the Lady Mavs in scoring, averaging 13.6 points per game. She also averages 3.3 assists per game as well as 2.8 rebounds per contest. She is currently shooting .423 from the field on the year while averaging a team-high 32 minutes of action per game.
The Lady Mavs continue their conference slate when they travel to Stephenville to take on Tarleton State inside Wisdom Gym this Thursday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m.
