HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS – The UT Arlington Maverick baseball team fell to the Sam Houston State Bearkats this Wednesday, 3-2. 4 errors on the day for the Mavs was the ultimate decider in the game.
 
Errors got the best of the Mavs performance, with the first two occurring in back-to-back plays in the bottom of the 1st, resulting in no runs. Another error took place in the bottom of the 5th inning with two outs to go, which also did not plate any Bearkat runs. The final error came in the bottom of the 7th inning, causing an unearned run to plate, which caused the Bearkats to jump out to a 3-2 lead.
 
The Mavs got off to a strong start, plating 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning due to a walk with bases loaded and HBP worn by Garrison Berkley. Those were the only 2 runs of the day for the Mavs.
 
The Mavs bullpen performed well today, limiting the high powered Bearkat offense to just 3 runs and 7 hits. Seven different Mavs were on the bump for the game, with lefties Cade McGlade and Austin Wallace raking in 5 strikeouts out of the 8 total. McGlade pitched for 1 inning and struck out two batters and allowed just one hit. Wallace also pitched for an inning and struck out all three of the batters he faced.
 
ON DECK
The Mavs will head to Beaumont, Texas for a weekend series against Lamar University, Mar. 1-3.
