HOUSTON – Behind a double-digit hit total, the UT Arlington softball team soared to an 8-1 win at Houston Christian on Tuesday, Mar. 12 from Husky Field.
The Mavericks move on to an overall record of 9-15 as UTA has won six of the last eight games. The team has turned its offense around with those six wins ending with at leats eight runs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: at Houston Christian (W, 8-1)
UTA produced a whopping 13 hits across the Maverick lineup as
Kaitlyn Sailor (2-4, 1 RBI),
Alaina Hampton (2-4, 1 RBI),
Cameron Cooper (2-3) and
Marley Neises (2-3, 1 RBI) came away with multi-hit efforts.
The other Mavericks that contributed to the double-digit offensive performance was
Camille Corona (1-4),
Lindsey Franklin (1-2),
Jade Moreno (1-3, 2 RBI),
Morgan Westbrook (1-4, 2 RBI) and
Zaia Castruita (1-3) who knocked one a piece.
It was freshman Moreno who smacked her first career home run as a Maverick with a two-run shot in the top of the third.

Abi Gutierrez her second start of the season in the circle as she went on to throw three innings, coming away with a pair of strike outs.
Moreno spent three innings on the mound and faced 13 batters before senior
Gracie Bumpurs closed things out.
With UTA's 8-1 victory, Moreno was credited with the win - her third of the year.

The Mavericks will begin WAC play with a three-game series against California Baptist beginning Friday, Mar. 15 from Allan Saxe Field.
