ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The UT Arlington Maverick baseball team fell to the Oklahoma Sooners 1-5 at Clay Gould Ballpark this Wednesday.
 
The Mavs struggled to get anything going until the bottom of the 2nd inning when Garrison Berkley roped a single through third base. His hit was just one of four hits the Mavs were able to record all game.
 
Tyson Pointer brought in the lone RBI for the Maverick squad with a triple towards right-center field which brought in Ryan Ellis, who reached base with a single right before Pointer came up. 
 
After allowing 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st, the Mavs were able to hold off an explosive Sooner offense, which average 7.87 runs a game, to just 5 throughout the whole game.
 
PITCHING PROFILE
The Mavs brought out 7 different pitchers throughout the game, with Austin Wallace, the transfer from Wichita State, getting the start.
 
Cade McGlade pitched 2.0 innings and continued his zero-earned run streak alive with another strong relief performance. The Senior was able to ring up one batter and allowed just one walk in the seven batters he faced.
 
Joe Steeber came in for relief with the bases loaded and just one out on the board in top of the 8th inning and was able to strike out back-to-back batters to escape the inning without allowing a run.

The Mavericks face off against Abilene Christian in a conference-series weekend clash, Mar. 15-17 at Crutcher Scott Field in Abilene, Texas.
