Comeback Falls Short As Mavs Lose To #10 DBU 5-3

ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington Maverick baseball team fell to the #10 Dallas Baptist Patriots this Tuesday, falling 5-3 at Clay Gould Ballpark.

GAME FLOW
The Patriots got its first run in the top of the 5th to take a 1-0 advantage after the Mavs pitching staff was able to hold DBU to just 2 hits in the first 5 innings of play.

It was a slow start for the Mavs as the squad did not record its first hit until the bottom of the 5th inning when Tate Bethel smoked a leadoff double to left field. Cade Sumbler was able to bring in Bethel with a SAC fly to left field to even up the ballgame to 1-1.

DBU jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the top of the 6th and increased its lead to 5-1 in the top of the 8th inning. The Mavs put a fight in the bottom of the 9th inning, scoring 2 runs thanks to a Kyzer Harrington pinch-hit single to cut the deficit to just two runs, however, the Mavs were unable to pull it out, ultimately losing 5-3.
