MARICOPA, Ariz. – The UT Arlington men's golf team sits at 8-under par in its 2nd round and -9 overall at the lightning-suspended Wyoming Cowboy Classic on Monday from Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
Leading the charge for the Mavericks was

Daniel Cronje at -4 in their respective 2nd rounds with each having four holes to complete when play resumes at 9:30 a.m. CT (7:30 local) on Tuesday with the conclusion of the 2nd round which will flow directly into the final round.
Beck currently paces UTA at -6 overall and is in a tie for 11th on the 120-player leaderboard, only three shots out of 1st place with 22 holes to go.

INSIDE THE SCORES
BECK
Beginning on the 11th hole, Beck sat at +4 through 10 holes. But starting on the par-5 3rd that all changed as the sophomore rolled in five-straight birdies, putting a 4, 2, 3, 2 and 4 on his card with circles around them, and then closed with three pars to sign for the impressive 1-under round.
His 2nd round continued the incredible turnaround as he is currently bogey free with the holes 7-10 to finish. Over his past 22 holes, Beck is -10 after playing the first 10 holes in +4.
CRONJE
The 5th year was met with a double bogey on his first hole of the day – the par-4 10th – but aside from that had a mostly clean 1st round. Cronje got one of those strokes back with a birdie on the 600-yard 13th hole, but returned it with a bogey on the par-3 17th and then closed with 10-straight pars.
The '6' that he made on the 10th in the 1st round was cut in half with a '3' in the 2nd round, and that set the tone as he – like Beck – is also bogey free with four birdies and holes 6-9 to conclude on Tuesday.
KANTH
In the 1st round, Kanth started on the 10th hole and birdied three of the first seven to reside at -3 heading to 17. However, he bogeyed three of the next seven holes to fall back to level par before a birdie on the par-4 8th – the only one of the day by a Maverick – had him notch his team-leading 12th par-or-better round this season.
That 71 represented his fourth par-or-better round in five opportunities, and the Englishman is currently working on making that five in six as he is -1 with holes 5-9 to wrap up in his 2nd round.
MILLER
Commencing his day on the 12th, Miller resided at level par through seven holes before being met with a double on the par-4 1st. The grad transfer responded well to that adversity with consecutive birdies on the 2nd and 3rd holes and rolled in another on the par-5 7th before closing his round with four pars to post 71.
The first seven holes of his 2nd round featured three pars, two bogeys, a double bogey and a birdie for a +3 total, but played the next seven in -1 and sits at +2 with holes 8-11 to go on Tuesday.
MIYA
Miya made nothing worse than a bogey in his 1st round which totaled four bogeys and two birdies. He sat at even par through 10 holes, but got into red numbers with a birdie on the 3rd hole. However, three bogeys over his final seven holes sent him to the 74.
Still without anything higher than a bogey on his card in the 2nd round, Miya is +3 with holes 7-10 remaining with four bogeys and a birdie so far.
THIS AND THAT
Grand Canyon leads the 23-team field at -27, seven shots clear of 2nd-place UNLV (-20) … UTA's 106 pars are currently tied for the 4th most in the field … the Mavs have 30 combined birdies … Beck's 2-under scoring average on the par-3 holes is tied for the 4th best, and his 10 total birdies are tied for the 3rd highest … Cronje's 25 pars are the 4th most in the field.
