EDINBURG, TEXAS – The UT Arlington Maverick baseball team lost the series to the UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros two games to one after falling to the Vaqueros 3-2 this Sunday at UTRGV Baseball Stadium.
GAME FLOW
The Vaqueros struck first in the bottom of the 1st inning with a run, however the Mavs were able to tie the game in the top of the 3rd inning after
Tyson Pointer scored
Ryan Black on a SAC FLY to center field to even the game at 1-1.
The Mavs took a 2-1 lead in the very next inning when
Parker Airhart smashed a solo homerun to left field, making it his third homerun in his last six at bats. The Vaqueros tied the game in the bottom of the 6th inning with a solo homerun of its own.
The game sat at 2-2 all the way until extra innings until the Vaqueros walked it off on an error from the Mavericks to win 3-2.
PITCHING PROFILE
Caden Noah, tabbed as the starter for the third time this season, did well in the 5.2 innings he pitched. The Longview, Texas native struck out 7 batters and allowed just 2 walks in the 24 batters he faced.
Nicholas Robb came in as relief in the 6th inning and pitched for 3.1 innings and allowed just 2 hits in the 13 batters he faced.
ON DECK
The Mavericks will head up to Norman, Oklahoma for a midweek game against the Oklahoma Sooners on Apr. 9 at 6:30 p.m.
