SEATTLE – The UT Arlington softball team was eliminated in the WAC Tournament as the Mavericks suffered a 4-1 loss to #2 California Baptist in the quarterfinal round Friday from Logan Field.
 
The Mavericks round out the 2024 season with an overall record of 23-34 after going 2-2 in the conference tournament.

UTA totaled five hits on the day as senior 
Morgan Westbrook went 2-3 at the plate. The veteran was responsible for the Mavericks' lone run after a clutch RBI-single through the right side in the bottom of the first.
 
Kaylee Cavazos (1-3), 
Nicole Hill (1-2) and 
Valerie Ornelas (1-3) all contributed to the Mavs' offense with one hit apiece.
 
Head coach 
Kara Dill gave freshman 
Abi Gutierrez the start in the circle for UTA as she went on to throw just over three innings of work. The lefty allowed three earned runs off seven hits before junior 
Jessica Adams tossed the remainder of the contest. Adams limited the Lancers' offense to just one hit as she came away with one strike out.
 
With the Mavericks unable to file a comeback, Gutierrez was handed the loss.
