SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI - The UT Arlington volleyball team defeated the Missouri State Bears in a 3-0 sweep (25-19) (25-19) (25-23) in the squad's first match of the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational this Thursday. The win marks the squads' third-consecutive sweep, and sixth sweep of the season. Additionally, the Mavs improved the 7-0 on the season, which had only been done twice (1973, 1987) in the programs 51-year history.
In the sweep, the Mavericks put together a strong attacking effort with 45 kills distributed by seven different Mavericks.
Brianna Ford led the team with 13,
Sjakkie Donkers poured in nine while
Paige Reagor and
Jalie Tritt each had seven kills. The 45 kills in the straight-set victory are a season high for the Mavericks.
The Mavs also had 54 digs in the win, which is a season-high for a three-set match. Ford paced the team with 16 and
Samantha Glenn accounted for 15 digs.

"Solid performance in a great volleyball environment," said head coach
J.T. Wenger. "Our passing provided great stability and allowed our offense to run with a high efficiency throughout the match. Excellent team play, and we have some momentum heading into tomorrow's match."
NEXT UP
The Mavericks face the Saint Louis Billikens at 3 p.m. in the second match of the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational. A victory in tomorrow's match will secure the team a place in the record book for the best start to a season in program history, at 8-0.
