OREM, Utah – The UT Arlington women's basketball team (8-7, 3-1 WAC) have their four-game win streak snapped while suffering their first conference loss to Utah Valley (10-6, 2-2 WAC) on Thursday, Jan. 16, evening by a final score of 86-75.
The Lady Mavs were led by two double digit scorers in the loss.
Taliyah Clark finished with 17 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 31 minutes of action. The 17 points are a conference high for Clark this season.
Koi Love notched her fifth double double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds to go along with six assists, three steals and a pair of blocks in a game high 36 minutes. In the first minute of the third quarter, Love registered her 1000th career point on a put back.
Avery Brittingham finished with eight points, eight rebounds, four assists, a pair of blocks and one steal in 32 minutes.
Aspen Thornton chipped in with eight points, two rebounds and an assist in 14 minutes of action while
Nya Threatt finished with seven points, four rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block in 27 minutes.
UTA controlled the opening tip and recorded the games first two baskets in a first quarter that featured three lead changes. At the five-minute mark in the first, the Wolverines regained the lead on a made second chance three pointer which had the Lady Mavs playing from behind for the remainder of the game.
Utah Valley started the second quarter on a 9-0 run that pushed their lead up to double digits, 25-12. The Wolverines would go up by as many as 19, their largest lead of the game. The Lady Mavs managed to chip the UVU lead down to single digits before the half thanks to a 13-2 run in the quarter's last 3:43 to bring the halftime score to 38-30.
In the third quarter, Utah Valley managed another 9-0 run to keep the pressure on the Lady Mavs. UTA went 6-for-6 on their last six shots of the third to remain in striking distance, trailed UVU 65-55.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Mavs and Wolverines traded buckets throughout the quarter while UTA couldn't manage a series of defensive stops to really cut into the UVU lead.
For the game, the Wolverines shot 48 percent from the field and 38 percent from deep compared to the Lady Mavs 42 percent from the floor and 39 percent from beyond the arc. Both teams finished tied with 37 total rebounds for the game while Utah Valley's bench recorded 38 points compared to UTA's 26 bench points.

The Lady Mavs will be back in action next Thursday, Jan. 23, when they travel to Washington to take on Seattle U for an 8 p.m. central time tipoff.
