Lady Mavs Return Home For One Game When They Host Abilene Christian This Saturday

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's basketball team (9-7, 4-1 WAC) return to the College Park Center for one game when they host Abilene Christian (13-7, 2-3 WAC) on Saturday, Jan. 25, for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
 
The Lady Mavs put their perfect 7-0 record at home on the line with the Wildcats coming to town.
 
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 19th overall meeting between the two programs, with the Lady Mavs holding a slight edge over the Wildcats with a 10-8 overall record. UTA holds a 6-2 record at home which includes a 2-1 record inside the College Park Center. The Lady Mavs average 68.5 points per game in the series. The first ever matchup between the two came back in March of 1973. As members of the Western Athletic Conference, the Lady Mavs hold a 2-2 record against the Wildcats.
 
SCOUTING ABILENE CHRISTIAN
The Wildcats currently hold a 13-7 overall record with a 2-3 conference record. ACU fell to Tarleton State 79-54 in their last game. On the road, the Wildcats sport a 6-2 record. Payton Hull leads the Wildcats as well as the conference in scoring with 18.6 points per game. Bella Earle averages 14.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Emma Troxell averages 10.8 points per game, the third and final Wildcat who averages double digit scoring efforts.
 
NATURAL BORN SCORER
Fifth year transfer Koi Love is solidifying herself as one of the top scorers in the Western Athletic Conference. 
 
Through 16 games, Love is averaging 18.1 points per game, which is currently the second-best mark in the WAC and the 53rd best mark in the nation as of Jan. 23. Love has put up 289 total points in the Lady Mavs' 16 games, which is fourth in the conference. She has made 121 field goals on the season, which is second in the WAC and 76th in the NCAA while her 53.8 field goal percentage is the second-best mark in the WAC and 43rd overall. She has six 20-point performances on the season.
 
ALL AROUND HOOPER
Avery Brittingham has proven time and time again that she is one of the premier players in this league. She has posted a league high eight double doubles through 16 games which is 25th in the country. She nearly averages a double double for the season with 12.8 points per game and 9.1 rebounds per game.
 
Her 1.97 assist to turnover ratio is second in the conference and 71st in the country.
 
IF IT'S FREE, IT'S FOR ME
As a team, the Lady Mavs are one of the best teams in the nation in getting to the free throw line for the season, averaging a league high 22.69 free throw attempts per game which is the ninth best mark nationally. Their average of 15.88 free throws made per game is tops in the league and 16th nationally. 
 
Brittingham is third in the conference with 86 free throw attempts while Miraya Perkins 81.8 free throw percentage is the second-best mark in the WAC.
 
DEFENSIVE INTENSITY
The Lady Mavs force 19.81 turnovers a game, the fourth best mark in the WAC and the 52nd best mark in the NCAA.
 
Their 10.4 steals per contest are the fourth best mark in the conference and 52nd in the country.
 
The Lady Mavs have the fourth best turnover margin in the WAC and the 74th best in the NCAA at 3.38.
 
Love's 42 steals are the fifth most in the WAC and 73rd in the country. Her average of 2.63 steals per game is the second-best mark in the conference and 33rd nationally. Brittingham's average of 1.94 steals per contest is the 11th best mark in the WAC.
 
THE FACILITATORS
The Lady Mavs are one of the top teams in the conference when it comes to dishing out assists, their 15.6 per game are the second most in the WAC and 65th overall in the NCAA. Their 0.95 assist to turnover ratio is the second-best mark in the conference and 106th best in the NCAA.
 
Brittingham's 73 total assists lead the team and are the fifth most in conference while her average of 4.6 per game are the fourth best mark in the conference and 68th nationally. Love's 3.5 assists per contest is the seventh best mark in the league.
 
HIGH OCTANE OFFENSE
The Lady Mavs have the third best scoring offense in the conference and 79th best in the country, averaging 72.3 points per game. Their 5.8 scoring margin in the third best mark in the WAC. The bench averages 22.5 points per game, the third best mark in the conference and 95th in the country.
 
STILL THROWING A BLOCK PARTY
The Lady Mavs are still one of the better shot blocking teams in the WAC a year later after leading the league and having two of the top shot blockers in the conference a season ago.
 
The Lady Mavs average 4.3 blocks per game, the best mark in the conference and 40th nationally. The Lady Mavs once again have two of the top five shot blockers in the WAC with Love averaging 1.19 per game, the second highest mark in the conference while Brittingham averages 1.06 per game, the fifth highest mark in the conference.
 
In 16 games, the Lady Mavs have posted at least one block in each contest. Their best block performance as a team came against Arkansas when they had nine, the second most by a WAC team on the season and have two other games on the year where they posted seven apiece while having two six block performances also. The Lady Mavs posted their first six block game of conference play at home against Southern Utah.
 
QUEENS OF THE BOARDS
The Lady Mavs are one of the top rebounding teams in the country, averaging a league leading 39.50 rebounds per game which is the 68th best mark in the country. Offensively, UTA averages 13.5 which is third best in the WAC and 57th best in the NCAA. Defensively, their average of 26 is third in the WAC. The Lady Mavs own the fifth best rebound margin in the conference at 0.1.
 
Brittingham's 9.1 rebounds per game are second best in the conference and 53rd nationally while her 146 total rebounds are the second most in the WAC. Love's average of 7.1 rebounds per game is the fifth best mark in the conference.
 
TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK
The Lady Mavs are one of the best in the conference when taking care of the basketball, averaging 16.4 turnovers per game which is the third best mark in the WAC.
