RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The UT Arlington volleyball team fell to the California Baptist Lancers 3-2 (26-24, 18-25, 24-26, 25-18, 9-15) Saturday, Oct. 11, on the road at Van Dyne Gym.
The loss dropped UTA's record to 9-8 overall and 1-4 in Western Athletic Conference action.
The Mavericks offense was paced by Jalie Tritt, who finished with 13 kills on the day. Evyn Snook added 12 while Sophia Krichev chipped in with 10 as part of balanced UTA attack. Defensively, two players reached double figures in digs as Samantha Glenn had 13 and Mira Ledermueller had 12.
GAME NOTES
» Alondra Hernandez had a match-high four aces to go along with five digs in the loss.
» Alexis Bull chipped in with nine kills on the afternoon.
» Tritt and Snook both added seven digs in the match.
» UTA attackers were helped by a match-high 40 assists from Ledermueller.
» The Lancers finished the match with 13 blocks to the Mavs nine. Krichev led UTA with four blocks.
» UTA had one more dig in the match then the Lancers, 51-50.
» The Mavs doubled the amount of service aces the Lancers had, 10-5 for the match.
GAME FLOW
SET 1 | The Mavs came out on top of a tight first set that featured 11 ties and seven lead changes. UTA was down 18-11 before going on a 7-0 run to storm back, tying things up at 18 apiece. The Mavs would go on to take their first lead, 21-20, since a 6-5 lead in the beginning stages of the set. CBU managed to tie it up at 24-24 before the Mavs rattled off the next two points to take an exciting first set, 26-24.
SET 2 | UTA then lost set two 25-18, evening things at a set each. CBU started off the set with five straight points to take a 5-0 lead before the Mavs got on the board. UTA would play behind the eight ball for the entirety of set 2. The Mavs managed to cut the deficit down to four, 21-17, before the Lancers would go on a 4-1 run to close out set two.
SET 3 | UTA came out registering the first point of set 3 before the Lancers rattled off four straight points to make it 4-1. UTA would play catch up for the remainder of the set. The Mavs would record four straight points to cut the Lancer lead down to 18-16. UTA managed to tie things up at 23 points apiece before CBU would record three of the next four points to take a 26-24 victory to make it two sets to one.
SET 4 | UTA broke their two set losing streak and forced a decisive fifth set with a 25-18 victory in set number four. The Mavs led from the opening point on in the set to earn the victory. UTA opened up as much as a seven point lead at 15-8 before finishing off the stanza. The Mavs also supplemented their offense with three aces in the set. UTA got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four CBU attacks in the set.
SET 5 | The Mavs would take a 3-2 lead in the beginning stages of the set. With the set tied at four points apiece, the Lancers utilized a 4-0 run that put them up 8-4. UTA managed to pull within two, making it 10-8 before CBU would rattle off five of the next six points to take the set 15-9 and had the Mavs a 3-2 loss.

UTA returns to the College Park Center for a three-match home stand, beginning with Utah Tech on Saturday, Oct. 18. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. CT start. It's Alumni Celebration day as we honor the Mavs of the past.
