OGDEN, Utah – UT Arlington men's basketball (4-1) is in the Beehive State for the Junction City Jame and will take on Campbell (2-3) on Friday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. CT from Dee Events Center on the campus of host Weber State. Fans can watch the Mavs live on
ESPN+, and listen live on the Varsity Network App with the Voice of the Mavs, Josh Sours.
The Mavericks, winners of three straight, won impressively on the road last time out at Evansville, 84-76, on Tuesday night in Indiana. The Mavs were paced by senior forward
Raysean Seamster and sophomore guard
Tyran Mason, who each scored 19 points in the win. Seamster, the steadying constant for UTA this season (and last) also pulled down nine rebounds and dished out four assists in the win. Mason was 8-of-10 from the field and 3-of-4 from distance to go along with four rebounds, three steals and an assist, all off the bench. UTA shot a season-best 62.2% from the floor, while also connecting on 50% from three (8-of-16) in the win.
Campbell enters play at 2-3 following a narrow 91-85 loss at Weber State in the first game of the Junction City Jam on Wednesday night from the Dee Events Center.
Campbell is led by first-year head coach John Andrzejek. He took the reins at Campbell after serving as an assistant at Florida, where he won the 2025 National Championship with the Gators, who were 60-16 in Andrzejek's two season in Gainesville. He also has stops at Washington State (2019-23), Dartmouth (2018-19), Johns Hopkins (2017-18) and was the director of basketball operations at San Francisco (2016-17).
The Fighting Camels are led by a quartet of players who average in double figures. They are led by graduate G DJ Smith (22.4 ppg and 4.6 rpg), sophomore F Dovydas Butka (15.0 ppg and 9.4 rpg), junior F Chris Fields, Jr. (13.6 ppg and 7.6 rpg) and sophomore G Jeremiah Johnson (12.0 ppg).
The Mavs have exhibited tremendous team defense out of the gates, as UTA enters play ranking 11
th nationally in field goal percentage defense (34.8%), second in rebound margin (+19.4), sixth in three-point percentage defense (22.4%), 11
th in scoring defense (60.0 ppg), 13
th in rebounds per game (46.4) and 40
th in blocks per game (5.4).
Offensively it's been Seamster's steady string of performances (17.8 ppg, 7.6 rpg on 62.3% shooting from the field) that have paced UTA to their 4-1 start.
