COLUMBIA, Mo.– Freshman
Dorcas Jepkosgei's season has come to a close after making her first appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 22 from Gans Creek, home of the Mizzou Tigers.
"Dorcas ran a solid race against the best in the NCAA," said head coach John Sauerhage. "She gained a lot of experience today and it will come in handy for future championships."
Jepkosgei captured a tremendous time of 20:08.9, finishing among the top 140 runners in the country. With a 136th place finish, the Kenyan native wrapped up a historic first-year campaign representing the blue and orange.
Amongst competing freshmen, the WAC Freshman of the Year finished midst the top 35 following Saturday's performance while placing behind fellow conference student-athlete, Morgan Nokes with Utah Valley.
The three-time WAC Athlete of the Week and First Team All-WAC selection is the fifth woman in program history to make it to the national championships, joining
Matro Jepkemboi (2023), Jodi Hulett (2006), Kristin Ahlepil (1997) and Angela Nelson (1995).
