Kira Reynolds' Double-Double Leads Lady Mavs Past Little Rock, 62-55

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Kira Reynolds secured a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds to help the UT Arlington women's basketball team knock off the Little Rock Trojans 62-55 inside the Jack Stephens Center on Tuesday night.

The Lady Mavs had two players score in double figures, led by Reynolds, who recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Mila Reynolds tacked on 17 points and seven rebounds while Nya Threatt chipped in with nine points, five assists and three steals.

UTA out-rebounded Little Rock 38-26 in Tuesday's game, paced by Kira Reynolds' 11 boards.

The Lady Mavs' defense held Little Rock to only 35.1-percent shooting from the field. The Trojans did not have much luck cleaning up their misses on the offensive glass either, as they finished with seven offensive rebounds and managed five second chance points while UTA cleared 29 defensive rebounds.

GAME FLOW
After falling behind 8-7, UTA went on an 8-0 run with 3:58 left in the first quarter to take a 15-8 lead. The Trojans managed a three-point play the old fashioned way to make it 15-11 to take us into the second quarter. UTA did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring 10 of its 15 points close to the basket.

The Lady Mavs built that first quarter lead to 23-17 before going on a 6-0 run starting at the 2:40 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Kira Reynolds, to increase its lead to 29-17. The Trojans cut into that lead, but UTA still enjoyed a 31-25 advantage heading into halftime. UTA dominated in the paint much like the first quarter, scoring 10 of its 16 points close to the basket.

Coming out of the break, UTA wasted no time building on its lead, going on a 7-0 run to expand its lead further to 38-25 with 6:29 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Trojans had cut into that lead somewhat, highlighted by a three-pointer to beat the buzzer  but the Lady Mavs still entered the fourth quarter with a 47-39 edge. UTA played well near the basket just like in the first half, scoring 10 of its 16 points in the paint.

UTA kept its lead intact before going on a 7-0 run, finished off by Mila Reynolds' jumper, to grow the lead to 54-41 with 6:11 to go in the contest. The Trojans narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Lady Mavs still cruised the rest of the way for the 62-55 win. UTA took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 12 of its 15 points in the paint.
