PHOENIX, Ariz. – The UT Arlington women's basketball team (14-8, 9-2 WAC) look to get back to their winning ways in Arizona when they take on Grand Canyon (23-2, 10-0 WAC) on Saturday, Feb. 15, inside the GCU Arena for a 4 p.m. CT tipoff.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the fifth overall meeting between the two programs with the Lady Mavs holding a 1-3 overall record. The Lady Mavs lone win came back in February of 2023 in their second all-time matchup. In Phoenix, the Lady Mavs hold a 1-1 record while averaging 64 points per game in those matchups. In the all-time series, the Lady Mavs average 62.75 points per game while putting up 251 total points in four games.
SCOUTING GRAND CANYON
The Lopes carry a 23-2 overall record with a perfect 10-0 record in conference play. The Lopes are currently riding a 21-game win streak which is the longest active streak in the NCAA. As a team, the Lopes shoot 49.4 percent from the floor, the top mark in the league and the fourth best mark in the country while their 38.4 percent from deep is tops in the league and fourth in the country. They average 17.6 assists per game which is the top mark in the league and 21st in the nation. Trinity San Antonio is second in the WAC with 15.2 ppg while Laura Erikstrup averages 15 ppg which is third.

Koi Love is solidifying herself as one of the top scorers in the Western Athletic Conference.
Through 22 games, Love is averaging 16.8 points per game, which is currently the top mark in the WAC and the 92nd best mark in the nation as of Feb. 13. Love has put up 369 total points in the Lady Mavs' 22 games, which is second in the conference. She has made 157 field goals on the season, which is tops in the WAC and 62nd in the NCAA while her 52.3 field goal percentage is the second-best mark in the WAC and 51st overall. She has six 20-point performances on the season.
ALL AROUND HOOPER
Avery Brittingham has proven time and time again that she is one of the premier players in this league. She has posted a league high 11 double doubles through 22 games which is 22nd in the country. She nearly averages a double double for the season with 13.0 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game. Her 1.78 assist to turnover ratio is third in the conference and 98th in the country.
IF IT'S FREE, IT'S FOR ME
As a team, the Lady Mavs are one of the best teams in the nation in getting to the free throw line for the season, averaging a league high 22.59 free throw attempts per game which is the eighth best mark nationally. Their average of 15.95 free throws made per game is tops in the league and 12th nationally. Their 70.6 free throw percentage is the fourth best mark in the WAC.
Brittingham is third in the conference and 82nd in the country with 119 free throw attempts while
Miraya Perkins' 79.7 free throw percentage is the best mark in the WAC.
DEFENSIVE INTENSITY
The Lady Mavs force 19.91 turnovers a game, the fourth best mark in the WAC and the 40th best mark in the NCAA. Their 10.4 steals per contest are the fourth best mark in the conference and 41st in the country. The Lady Mavs have the fourth best turnover margin in the WAC and the 71st best in the NCAA at 3.45. The Lady Mavs have the fifth best scoring defense in the conference at 66.7.
Love's 54 steals are tied for the fourth most in the WAC and 69th in the country. Her average of 2.45 steals per game is the third best mark in the conference and 45th nationally. Brittingham's average of 1.91 steals per contest is the eighth best mark in the WAC.
HIGH OCTANE OFFENSE
The Lady Mavs have the second-best scoring offense in the conference and 60th best in the country, averaging 73.6 points per game. Their 6.9 scoring margin in the third best mark in the WAC and 102nd in the NCAA. The bench averages 22.1 points per game, the second-best mark in the conference and 83rd nationally. Their field goal percentage of 41.9 percent is the third best mark in the conference.
QUEENS OF THE BOARDS
The Lady Mavs are one of the top rebounding teams in the country, averaging a league leading 39.59 rebounds per game which is the 54th best mark in the country. Offensively, UTA averages 13.2 which is third best in the WAC and 65th best in the NCAA. Defensively, their average of 26.4 is second in the WAC and 98th in the NCAA. The Lady Mavs own the fifth best rebound margin in the conference at 1.1.
Brittingham's 9.2 rebounds per game are second in the conference and are 52nd nationally while her 202 total rebounds are the second most in the WAC and 79th in the NCAA. Love's average of 7.3 rebounds per game is the third best mark in the conference.
TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK
The Lady Mavs are one of the best in the conference when taking care of the basketball, averaging 16.5 turnovers per game which is the second-best mark in the WAC.
STILL THROWING A BLOCK PARTY
The Lady Mavs are still one of the better shot blocking teams in the WAC a year later after leading the league and having two of the top shot blockers in the conference a season ago. The Lady Mavs average 4.3 blocks per game, the best mark in the conference and 39th nationally. The Lady Mavs once again have two of the top seven shot blockers in the WAC with Love averaging 1.05 blocks per game, the fifth highest mark in the conference while
Zoe Nelson averages 0.91 per game the seventh highest mark in the conference.
UTA has posted at least one block in each of their 22 games, with 20 of those seeing the Lady Mavs with multiple blocked shots. Through conference play, the Lady Mavs have 49 blocked shots, second most in that span behind California Baptist.
THE FACILITATORS
The Lady Mavs are one of the top teams in the conference when it comes to dishing out assists, their 16.1 per game are the second most in the WAC and 51st overall in the NCAA. Their 0.98 assist to turnover ratio is the second-best mark in the conference and 92nd best in the NCAA.
Brittingham's 96 total assists lead the team and are the fifth most in conference while her average of 4.4 per game are the fourth best mark in the conference and 82nd nationally. Love's 3.2 assists per contest is the eighth best mark in the league.
