PHOENIX – Five Mavericks scored in double digits, but UT Arlington fell to Grand Canyon 85-71 on the road Thursday night.
The Mavericks (13-15, 6-8 WAC) had five players score in double figures, led by Jaden Wells, who had 19 points off the bench. Brody Robinson tacked on 11 points and seven assists and Lance Ware helped out with his 10th double-double of the season, with 10 points and a career-high 17 rebounds.
"I'm really disappointed and haven't been this disappointed in a long time," head coach KT Turner said following the game. "I feel like we didn't fight or compete like we should have. On the offensive end I thought we were soft also. They had 14 steals and that's unacceptable. The way we turned the ball over 17 times, you cannot beat a team like this turning the ball over 17 times – that's impossible."
UT Arlington shared the ball well in Thursday's game, racking up 16 assists on 25 made field goals. Robinson's seven assists paced the Mavericks.
