ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's basketball team (14-7, 9-1 WAC) won their sixth straight game while remaining undefeated at home after defeating Seattle U (3-19, 0-9 WAC) 80-54 Saturday afternoon inside the College Park Center.
With the victory, the Lady Mavs move their Western Athletic Conference record to an impressive 9-1, their best start to conference play in 16 years when they started 9-1 in Southland Conference play way back during the 2008-09 season where they finished with a 14-2 conference record.
The win also moves UTA's home record to a perfect 10-0 with two home games remaining. This is the best start at home since the 2004-05 season when the Lady Mavs went a perfect 11-0 at home. During that 06-07 season, the Lady Mavs finished 11-1 at home with their lone loss coming in overtime to Pepperdine in their fourth home game of the year before winning out. The 10-0 home record is the best start during the Lady Mavs tenure inside the CPC. The win also moves the all-time series record between the Lady Mavs and Redhawks to even at four games apiece while also giving UTA their first win over Seattle in Arlington.
The Lady Mavs had four reach double figures in scoring highlighted by
Koi Love who led all scorers with 19 points while grabbing seven rebounds, dished out two assists to go along with three steals and a block in 25 minutes of work.
Taliyah Clark went off for 18 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field, drilling four three pointers against her former team while also grabbing seven rebounds, dished out two assists while having one steal and one block in 26 minutes of play.
Both
Miraya Perkins and
Kali Haizlip dropped 10 points coming off the bench. It was a conference high for Haizlip who was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and 2-for-2 from deep while adding two rebounds in 19 minutes of action. Perkins finished with four rebounds to go along with her 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the floor and going 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.
Avery Brittingham led all players with eight rebounds to go along with four points, four assists, two steals and a block in 22 minutes.
Aspen Thornton chipped in with seven points, three assists and two steals in 24 minutes of action.
The Lady Mavs never trailed once in the game, winning the opening tip and registering the games first three baskets to go up a quick 7-0 to get things started. Seattle hung around in the first half, keeping the Lady Mavs lead below double digits until the final 10 seconds of the second quarter when UTA went up by 10. The Redhawks answered right back to make it singles digits on a layup as time expired to send us into the locker room with UTA leading, 34-26.
UTA came out the locker room sizzling hot, going on an 8-0 to start the third quarter and push their lead to 16, 42-26. The Lady Mavs would remain out in front comfortably for the remainder of the game. Under five minutes left in the fourth quarter, UTA would push their double digit lead up to 20, where it would remain for the duration of the game to give them a 26-point win.

The Lady Mavs hit the road for the next three games, starting with a trip to Riverside to take on the Lancers of California Baptist next Thursday, Feb. 13, from inside the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler Events Center for an 8 p.m. central tipoff.
