ARLINGTON, Texas --UT Arlington got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, but the Mavericks fell to the Houston Cougars 21-8 Sunday.
Sophomore Nicholas Robb (1-2) got the ball to start for UT Arlington (3-5) and took the loss. Junior Zac Colletti was a bright spot for the Mavericks, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two scoreless innings, allowing no hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mavericks were trailing 3-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. UT Arlington's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of senior Tate Bethel.
The Cougars then rallied to score seven runs and take a 10-4 lead before the Mavericks got back on the board in the third. UT Arlington scored once on an RBI single off the bat of senior Parker Airhart, which brought the score to 10-5 in favor of the Cougars.
Houston expanded their lead to 11-5 before the UT Arlington offense got back in action, reducing that lead to 11-8 in the fourth. The Mavericks were unable to get any closer, as Houston added 10 runs to their tally on the way to a 21-8 final.
