SACRAMENTO, CA --The UT Arlington Mavericks got a strong performance from senior Tyce Armstrong, who collected his fifth homerun of the seasonĀ in a 8-3 loss to the Sacramento State Hornets Friday.
Sophomore Caylon Dygert (3-3) got the ball to start for UT Arlington (6-12, 0-1) and took the loss.
Armstrong's two extra base hits were the highlight of a 2-for-4 day, and included a double, a home run and two RBI. Senior Maxwell Mims put together a standout performance as well, going 1-for-4 with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mavericks were trailing 3-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. UT Arlington got an RBI single from Mims, scoring Armstrong from second base.
The Mavericks kept the deficit at 3-1 before tying the score in the sixth. UT Arlington scored twice on Armstrong's two-run homer, which brought the score level at 3-3. Sacramento State then scored five times over the remaining three innings to break the tie and grab the 8-3 win.
