DENTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis team (4-5) fell by a final score of 4-0 on the road to North Texas (6-6) on Wednesday evening from the Waranch Tennis Complex.
 
The loss puts the Mavericks on a two-match skid while giving them their first loss in the month of March. 
 
The Mean Green secured the doubles point behind wins on Courts 2 and 3. The Mavs gave it a fight, winning 6-3 on Court 1 behind the duo of Mialy Ranaivo and Valeriia Ivanovskaia. UNT started off with a 6-3 win on Court 2 and claimed the doubles point behind a 6-4 win on Court 3.
 
UNT managed to sweep the match behind wins on Courts 2, 4, and 6 despite UTA battling it out on Courts 3 and 5 with both courts going to the decisive third set. Ivanovskaia took the first set 6-1 on Court 3 before dropping set two 6-3. The match was abandoned before a point was scored in the third set. Nika Novikova won the first set 6-1 on Court 5 before dropping set two 6-2. Novikova was trailing 3-0 in set three before the match was abandoned.
 
Mialy Ranaivo fell to Stadfany Nformi 6-1, 6-4 on Court 2 to make it 2-0 in favor of the Mean Green. Ioana Dumitrescu fell on Court 4 to Lou Chalard 6-3, 6-3 to put UNT up 3-0. The Mean Green clinched the match on Court 6 with Carolina Laydner defeating Maria Lucia Araoz-Gosn 6-3, 6-3.
 
The Mavs still hold the edge in the all-time series despite the loss, leading the Mean Green 15-12 overall.
 
UTA returns to action this Friday, March 7, when they travel to Conway, Arkansas to battle Central Arkansas.
