Mavs Fall To Warhawks 4-2 On Saturday

MONROE, LA --UT Arlington got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, but the Mavericks fell to the UL Monroe Warhawks 4-2 Saturday.

Sophomore Nicholas Robb (1-3) started and took the loss on the mound for UT Arlington (4-7). The right-hander went six innings, giving up four runs, zero earned, on nine hits, allowing no walks and striking out two. Senior Rhys Stevens was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out four.

Offensively, the Mavericks were led by freshman Cade Dodson, who went 2-for-5 on the day with a double. Senior Tate Bethel compiled a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 0-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. Junior Jake Martinez also contributed for the Mavericks, putting together one hit while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Mavericks got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning off of a bases-loaded walk from Bethel.

The Mavericks lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the seventh trailing 4-1. UT Arlington scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Martinez, which tightened the Warhawks lead to 4-2. The Mavericks were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
