ARLINGTON, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced on Tuesday afternoon that
Andres Medus was named the University Credit Union WAC Men's Tennis Singles Player of the Week for the competition week ending on March 30.
In the Mavericks' lone match on the week, Medus picked up his 11th singles win on Wednesday, March 26, when he defeated Wichita State's Alejandro Jacome in a three-set thriller 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.
The sophomore from Argentina has been the steadfast piece for the Mavs on the year, boasting an 11-5 dual match record. Medus has won his previous two matches and has recorded victories in four of his last five singles matches. Medus has done the bulk of his damage on Court 2, holding steady at 9-3 for the season.
The Mavs return to action this week with their final two home regular season matches starting with Prairie View A&M on Wednesday, April 2, and ending it with conference foe Abilene Christian on Thursday, April 3, for senior day. Wednesday's match is slated for a 10 a.m. CT start while Thursday's match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. CT first serve.
