BEAUMONT, Texas --Sophomore Caylon Dygert had a quality effort on the bump on Friday, but the UT Arlington Mavericks fell 3-2 to the Lamar Cardinals.
The quality outing from Dygert was not enough for UT Arlington (8-18). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on six hits, allowing one walk and striking out four.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Mavericks first put runs on the board in the seventh inning. UT Arlington pushed across two runs in the frame, the big blow coming on an RBI double from sophomore Xander McAfee. Lamar then scored in the bottom of the ninth to break the tie and grab the 3-2 win.
