ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis team (7-8) wrapped up the 2024-25 regular season home schedule in a major way with a 4-0 sweep on Prairie View A&M (4-23) on a cold and overcast Sunday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center.
 
The Mavericks celebrated Senior Day by honoring Mialy Ranaivo, Nika Novikova, Ioana Dumitrescu and Ana Paula Jimenez with a small ceremony prior to the match where they were presented with special UTA tennis racquets along with other gifts while pictures were taken.
 
With the victory, the Mavs pick up their first win in the month of April while bringing their home record to 6-3. In the past five matches, UTA holds a 2-3 record. UTA moves to a perfect 6-0 all-time against the Panthers.
 
The Mavs secured the doubles point behind solid play on all three courts, with the teams playing out all three doubles courts which saw UTA pick up wins on all three.
 
UTA managed to secure the sweep behind solid play on Courts 3, 5 and 6. Maria Lucia Araoz-Gosn picked up the first singles point behind 6-0 sweeps in both game one and two over on Court 6. Mialy Ranaivo finished on Court 3 shortly after, winning 6-0, 6-1 to make it 3-0 in favor of the Mavs.
 
Nika Novikova secured the match for UTA on Court 5, winning 6-0, 6-2 over Joanne Fernandes.
 
UTA returns to action this upcoming Thursday, April 10, when they conclude the regular season at Tarleton State with first serve set for 1 p.m. CT.
