Mavs Are Primed & Ready To Host 2025 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington men's track & field teams return to action for the 2025 Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships beginning on Thursday, May 15, and running through Saturday, May 17. The Mavericks are this year's host as the three-day event will take place at Maverick Stadium.
 
The decathlon kicks the meet off on Thursday at 10 a.m. followed by the heptathlon at 10:30 a.m. Field events on Thursday begin at 11 a.m. with the women's hammer throw and track events begin at 5 p.m. with the men's 1500m. The championships conclude on Saturday with the 1600m relay with the men's going at 7:10 p.m. followed by the women's at 7:20 p.m. A senior recognition at 7:45 p.m. and an award ceremony at 8 p.m. wrap up the event.
 
Fans can follow all the action with real-time results provided by AthleticLive and video on ESPN+.
 
The Mavs will look for plenty of big-time performances throughout the three-day event as many student-athletes are scattered across the WAC performance list.
 
MAVS TO FOLLOW THIS WEEKEND
 
  • Randon Gray sits atop the WAC leaderboards in the men's pole vault with a season's best mark of 5.33m.
  • In the men's 800m, Alex Kalmar ranks first in the conference with a time of 1:47.38 while Kash Powell sits behind him in second with a time of 1:48.12. Kalmar is coming off breaking the school record in the men's 1500m with a pace of 3:44.62 which has him seventh in the conference.
  • Calen Jones and Miles Jones sit one and two in the men's high jump with Calen sitting in first with a mark of 2.14m with Miles right behind him in second with a mark of 2.09m.
  • The Mavs own the top two spots in the men's shot put with Hayden Wilson sitting in first with a mark of 18.33m while Desmond Frazier sits in second with a mark of 17.77m.
  • Winnie Kipsang owns the top time in the women's 800m at 2:04.72 and in the women's 1500m with a mark of 4:19.94.
  • Matro Jepkemboi holds the fourth best time in the WAC for the women's 5000m with a time of 16:14.72.
  • In the women's 100m hurdles, Zaire Moore holds the second fastest mark in the conference with a time of 13.55. Moore also holds the third fastest mark in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 59.42.
  • Abigail Flores holds the top mark in the conference for the women's discus throw with a mark of 50.97m.
  • The Mavs hold three of the top five marks in the men's decathlon with Luke Bontke sitting in second with 7232 points, Levi Bontke in fourth with 6852 points and Christian Coker in fifth with 6655 points.
  • In the men's hammer throw, Josh Hoekendorf sits second in the conference with a throw of 58.84m while Logan Villalva sits in third with a throw of 56.18m.
  • Austin Nkwoparah sits in third in the WAC for the men's discus throw with a mark of 49.70m.
