Versatile Guard Jadyn Atchison Joins Lady Mavs Basketball Program

ARLINGTON, Texas – Jadyn Atchison, a versatile 6-1 guard, will join the UT Arlington women's basketball program for the 2025-26 campaign.

The Cedar Hill, Texas native returns home after spending her freshman season at Colorado and her sophomore campaign at Old Dominion.

"Jadyn's addition will be a significant piece to our puzzle," head coach Shereka Wright said. "Her athleticism and natural skill set allow her to create for herself and others. She has barely scratched the surface of her potential, and I am thrilled and grateful that she chose to return home."

During the 2024-25 season at ODU, Atchison appeared in 31 games and averaged 1.6 points and 1.2 rebounds in 5.6 minutes per contest off the bench for the Monarchs. Atchison finished the season 19-of-65 (.292) from the floor, 6-of-20 (.300) from three-point range and 6-of-10 (.600) from the free throw line while corralling 37 total rebounds, dishing out 14 assists, securing 10 steals and totaling six blocks in 174 total minutes.

Prior to her time at ODU, Atchison suited up one season for the Buffaloes of Colorado during the 2023-24 campaign. During her freshman tour, Atchison appeared in 14 games and averaged 1.4 points and 1.1 rebounds in 3.6 minutes off the bench for the Buffs. For the season, Atchison went 8-of-26 (.308) from the floor, 1-of-6 (.167) from three-point distance and 2-of-6 (.333) from the charity stripe while collecting 15 total boards, dished out four assists, garnered three steals and one block with 19 total points. She had a career-high eight points and five rebounds in her collegiate debut against Le Moyne (11/8).

A 2023 graduate of Cedar Hill High School, Atchison was a three-time First Team All-District member as well as being tabbed TABC 6A All-Region twice and TGCA 6A All-State twice as well. Named to the THSCA Super Elite 6A State Team and selected to the Dallas Morning News High School Sports All-Area Second Team. The business major enjoys painting, dancing, listening to music and hanging out with her friends and family in her free time.

Atchison joins an exciting group of newcomers on next year's team including: Mila Reynolds (Purdue), Amiyah Reynolds (Purdue) and Kira Reynolds (South Bend Washington High School).
