ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington women's basketball returns to College Park Center on Saturday, riding fresh momentum, as the Lady Mavs host Utah Valley in a key WAC matchup. UTA is coming off a 64–56 victory over Utah Tech on Thursday night, securing its first conference win of the season and snapping a four-game league skid.
The Lady Mavs (7–10, 1–4 WAC) will look to carry that energy into another home contest, where they have been strong this season with a 4–2 record at College Park Center.
UTA leaned on a balanced team effort against Utah Tech, holding the Trailblazers to 36.5 percent shooting while forcing timely stops down the stretch. Defense has been a calling card for the Lady Mavs, who average 5.1 blocks per game, ranking among the top defensive teams in the league.
Offensively, Kira Reynolds continues to pace UTA, averaging 12.2 points per game while shooting 47.8 percent from the field. Nya Threatt has also been a steady contributor, posting 8.8 points per game and leading the team in assists, while Mila Reynolds adds 8.4 points per game and provides consistent perimeter scoring.
UTA averages 60.5 points per game and shoots 40.5 percent from the field, including 34.3 percent from beyond the arc, an area that could be pivotal against a Utah Valley squad that allows opponents opportunities from deep.
Utah Valley enters the matchup at 9–7 overall and 2–3 in WAC play, averaging 64.1 points per game and shooting 34.6 percent from three-point range. The Wolverines are led by Amanda Barcello, who averages 14.4 points per game and shoots better than 44 percent from beyond the arc, with Tessa Heading adding 10.6 points per contest. Defensively, Utah Valley applies constant pressure, ranking among the league's most aggressive teams with 17.5 steals per game, making ball security a key emphasis for the Lady Mavs.
The series began in February 2023, and through the first five meetings, UTA holds a 3–2 advantage. Utah Valley won the first-ever matchup in 2023, but the Lady Mavs responded with a two-game win streak during the 2023–24 season and have won the most recent meeting in dramatic fashion, an 85–83 victory at home. UTA has been perfect at College Park Center against the Wolverines, while Utah Valley's wins have come on its home floor.
