RIVERSIDE, CA. — UT Arlington women's basketball (8-13, 2-7 WAC) came up short Saturday afternoon at the Fowler Events Center, falling 83-55 to California Baptist(14-8, 8-1WAC).
UTA was led by Jadyn Atchison, who scored a season-high 16 points, while Kyra Reynolds added 15 points. Laura Bello anchored the Mavericks on the glass with a season-high 15 rebounds.
California Baptist set the tone early, jumping out to a quick lead and taking a 20-11 advantage after the opening period. The Lady Mavericks continued to battle, but the Lancers maintained control heading into halftime as UTA trailed 42-24 at the break.
CBU extended its lead in the third quarter, outscoring UTA 21-8 to take a 63-32 advantage into the final period. UTA closed the game with its most productive offensive quarter, scoring 23 points in the fourth behind Atchison and Reynolds, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.
UTA shot 18-of-65 from the field and connected on four three-pointers, while getting to the line 21 times. The Mavericks finished with 42 rebounds, including 17 on the offensive end, and were led by Atchison's season-high 16 points, Reynolds' 15 points, and Bello's season-high 15 rebounds.
