GAME 2 | UT Arlington 2, Tulsa 1
ARLINGTON, Texas -- The UT Arlington softball team secured a 2-1 victory over Tulsa on Friday night at Allan Saxe Field, using timely hitting and a strong performance in the circle to open the matchup.
UT Arlington plated both of its runs in the fourth inning to take control of the game.
Dee McClarity led the charge with an RBI double, while
Peyton Holland added an RBI to give the Mavericks the lead.
Holand finished 0-for-3 with an RBI, while McClarity went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Mia McNulty,
Kailee Bautista Kaitlyn Sailor and
Kelsey Creech recorded hits for the Mavericks.
In the circle,
Kynlee Bowlin earned the win after throwing a complete game. Bowlin allowed one run on three hits, striking out eight and working through multiple scoreless frames to preserve the lead.Â
Tulsa scored its lone run in the second inning but was held in check the rest of the way, as UTA's defense limited the Golden Hurricanes to just three hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Tulsa struck first with a run in the top of the second inning, but UTA responded in the bottom of the fourth. McClarity doubled to drive in the tying run before Holland followed with a sacrifice fly to put the Mavericks ahead for good.Â
Bowlin settled in after the early run, retiring Tulsa hitters efficiently and standing runners when needed to close out the victory.
GAME NOTES
- UTA improved to 1-1 at home this season.
- Bowlin recorded eight strikeouts in her complete-game effort.
- McClarity tallied UTA's lone extra-base hit with a double.
