LUBBOCK, Texas – The UT Arlington track and field team opened competition at the Jarvis Scott Invitational with success, highlighted by a school record, recorded by senior
Jaalah Puryear.
Puryear recorded a huge school record in the women's weight throw with a mark of 19.29m, surpassing the last UTA women's weight throw record-holding mark of 18.42, made by Sara Lehman in 2017. The senior Maverick's mark now ranks first in the Western Athletic Conference.
Freshman
Arieanna Mcpeak made huge strides today, earning a silver medal in the women's long jump. Her mark of 6.06m lands third in WAC.
Junior
Emilia Mandl continues a successful indoor campaign, earning third place in the women's 800m, clocking a time of (2:10.42). This marks her third top-three finish of the indoor season.
NEXT UP
The Mavericks will continue competition tomorrow with a multitude of field events such as men's and women's shot put, triple jump and high jump, and more long-distance events such as men's and women's mile and 3000m races.
