ARLINGTON, TX – UTA wrapped up the Boerner Invitational with a dramatic 4-3 extra-inning triumph against the Creighton Bluejays on Sunday at Allan Saxe Field, walking it off in the bottom of the eighth.
Creighton struck first, plating runs early to take a 2-0 advantage. UTA responded behind a big swing from
Kelsey Creech, who delivered a two-run home run to even the score and shift the momentum back to the Mavericks.
The game remained deadlocked at 2-2 into extra innings before Creighton pushed across a run in the top of the eighth to regain a 3-2 lead, but UTA answered immediately in the bottom half.
After putting runners aboard, the Mavericks tied the game before
Marley Neises delivered the decisive blow. Neises ripped her third hit of the afternoon to bring home the game-winning run and secure the 4-3 walk-off victory.
