ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington women's basketball has added a proven scorer and playmaker to its backcourt with the signing of Amaya Williams, a 5-foot-7 guard from El Paso, Texas, head coach Shereka Wright announced.

Williams joins the Lady Mavs following two standout seasons at Lamar Community College, where she developed into one of the team's primary offensive weapons and a consistent all- around contributor.
During the 2025-26 season, Williams started all 25 games and averaged 16.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, while adding 2.6 assists per contest. She shot 42.4 percent from the field, totaling 410 points on the year, and connected on 131 free throws at a 68.2 percent clip. Her ability to score at all three levels and impact the glass from the guard position made her a constant matchup challenge.
In the 2024-25 campaign, Williams averaged 15.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game, further showcasing her versatility and growth over her two-year junior college career.
A graduate of Eastwood High School in El Paso, Texas, Williams starred for the Troopers before continuing her career at Lamar CC. Her competitive edge and scoring ability were evident early, traits she continued to refine at the collegiate level.
"We are thrilled to welcome Amaya to the Lady Mav family. Amaya embodies our culture, competitive, selfless, and committed to personal growth. She is an excellent fit for our playing style and our identity as a team. She will provide an immediate spark to our guard position," said head coach Wright.
Williams' experience, scoring punch, and toughness add depth and versatility to UTA's perimeter
