Marcell McCreary and freshman guard
Jordan Lowery each claimed postseason honors from the Western Athletic Conference today. McCreary was named Second-Team All-WAC, while Lowery was tabbed to the All-Freshman Team.
McCreary leads the Mavericks in scoring at 12.6 points per game and ranks second on the squad in rebounding (5.0). He is one of six players in the WAC to rank among the top 13 in both scoring (10th) and rebounding (13th). Against Southern Utah on Jan. 3, McCreary netted a career-high 39 points, tied for the fourth-most in a single game in UTA history. He has 21 double-figure scoring games this season, including 12 during conference play. The native of Fort Worth tops the Mavs in 3-pointers made (49) and free throw percentage (84.5).
Lowery is averaging 4.5 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game this year. He has played in all 30 games as a true freshman, making four starts, and has averaged nearly 15 minutes of action. The product of Denton, Texas, has scored in double figures five times, including a career-high 16 at Tarleton State last week. Four of his five double-digit scoring efforts came in league action. Additionally, Lowery had a career-high six rebounds against Southern Utah and a five-assist game against UTRGV.
UTA is the No. 4 seed at the 2026 Air Force Reserve WAC Basketball Tournament and will begin play Thursday against fifth-seeded Southern Utah (10-21, 6-12 WAC).
