UTA Prepares for Texas Relays in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas – The UT Arlington track & field team continues its outdoor season this weekend, traveling to Austin, Texas for Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The Mavericks are set to compete from Thursday, April 2 to Saturday, April 4.
 
Texas Relays will begin Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m., with the heptathlon and decathlon. UTA will not have competitors in the multi events at this meet.

Thursday's schedule opens at 10 a.m. with the continuation of the decathlon and heptathlon. Field events begin at 11 a.m., starting with the women's hammer throw, followed by the women's javelin at 1 p.m. Additional field events, including the men's hammer, men's and women's pole vault and men's javelin, will continue throughout the afternoon.

Running events on Thursday begin at 4:30 p.m. with preliminary round, followed by finals shortly after. The evening session resumes at 6:30 p.m. with the men's and women's 800m, and competition is scheduled to conclude around 11 p.m.

Friday's competition begins with field events at 9 a.m., highlighted by the men's discus. Running events start at 9:35 a.m. with the women's 4x100m relay prelims and finals. Collegiate field events are expected to conclude around 2 p.m., while running events will wrap up with the distance medley relays at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The meet will conclude on Saturday with running events beginning at 10:40 a.m., featuring the women's and men's 4x800m relay. Field events start at 2:30 p.m. with the men's discus. The meet will wrap up with the men's and women's 4x400 relays at approximately 4 p.m.

UTA will compete alongside a strong collegiate field that includes WAC opponents, Abilene Christian and Tarleton State, as well as Baylor, Houston, North Texas, Oklahoma State, Rice, SMU, TCU, Texas State, UTSA, Virginia Tech and others.
