DALLAS, Texas – The UT Arlington Mavericks dropped a midweek contest to
Dallas Baptist 10-5 on Tuesday night at Horner Ballpark.
UTA struck first in the opening frame when
Harold Laracuente scored on an RBI single by
Xavier Melendez to give the Mavericks an early 1-0 lead. Dallas Baptist responded with two runs in the bottom of the first and added two more in both the second and third innings to build a 6-1 advantage.
The Mavericks rallied in the fourth inning with a four-run frame.
Clark Springs singled to left center before
Preston Knott delivered a two-run home run to right field. After
Harold Laracuente walked and
Hank Harp singled, both
Caylon Dygert and
Xander McAfee drove in runs on fielder's choices to cut the deficit to 6-5.
Dallas Baptist pulled away with four runs in the sixth inning to account for the final margin. UTA finished with nine hits on the evening, with Melendez, Harp, Laracuente, Springs and Knott each recording a hit for the Mavericks.
Pitching Profile
Dylan Skolfield took the loss after allowing two runs on two hits over one inning. The Mavericks used six relievers, with
Landon Murphy working two innings and allowing no earned runs.
On Deck
UT Arlington returns to Clay Gould Ballpark this weekend to open a Western Athletic Conference series against Sacramento State. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m.
