NORMAN, Okla. – The UT Arlington track & field team wrapped up competition at the OU O'Ring Alumni Open on Saturday, April 25, highlighted by a record-breaking performance from
Alexis Cain.
Cain set a new program record in the women's outdoor 400 meters, clocking a personal-best time of 52.53. The previous record of 52.79 was set by
Tatyana Terrell in 2023. Cain surpassed the record by .26 seconds while also securing a first-place finish in the event. She added another victory in the women's 200 meters with a time of 23.60.
Carla Guerrero led the way for UTA's multis competitors, placing fourth in the heptathlon with 4,483 points.
On the men's side,
Jayden Haynes led the way with a first-place finish in the 400 meters, recording a personal-best time of 45.99.
Devin Payne turned in a strong performance as well, placing first in the 400-meter hurdles (53.20) and third in the 110-meter hurdles (15.30). Abisayo Gbakino also claimed a first-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 14.78 meters.
Additional standout performances included
Indyia Walton earning two silvers in the women's 100-meter hurdles (14.17) and 400-meter hurdles (1:02.50).
Jamon Smith secured a second-place finish for the Mavericks in the men's 800 meters with a season-best time of 1:55.59.
Andrei Fuentes placed third in the men's 400-meter hurdles (55.91).
Kali Todman finished right behind Walton in third in the women's 400mH (1:04.23).
Eli England recorded a third-place finish in the men's 200 meters with a season-best of 21.15.
In the field events,
Lucas Cano earned a runner-up finish in the men's discus with a throw of 51.43 meters, while
Hayden Wilson placed second in the men's shot put with a season-best mark of 17.32 meters.

UTA will conclude the regular season of outdoor track & field next weekend at the SMU Invitational, scheduled for Friday, May 1 through Saturday, May 2.
