DALLAS, Texas – The UT Arlington track & field team opened competition at the SMU Invite with three personal bests and four podium finishes on Friday.
Senior
Jaalah Puryear earned second place in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 55.28m.
Eli England,
Arieanna Mcpeak and
Logan Villalva each earned bronze finishes in the men's 200m, women's long jump and men's hammer throw, respectively. England clocked a time of 21.26, while Mcpeak recorded a PR of 6.21m, tying for fifth all-time in program history in the women's outdoor long jump. Villalva threw 53.56m in the men's hammer throw.
UTA throwers continue to improve in the outdoor campaign, as
Gabe Songer and
Esther Adedire posted personal bests. Songer recorded a throw of 51.05m, while Adedire finished with a mark of 50.46m in the hammer throw.
NEXT UP
The Mavericks will continue competition at the SMU Invite on Saturday, May 2 with the remainder of multis and field events, including pole vault, triple jump and shot put. Track events will also continue.
