Nguyen Announces Additional Flag Football Signees for Inaugural Season

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – Head Coach Melinda Nguyen has announced another set of signees for UT Arlington's inaugural women's flag football team ahead of the program's debut season. The newest additions continue to build depth and versatility to the talented roster.

ABOUT THE RECRUITS
  
MADISON SCHLEYER
WR, 5-7
Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods HS

  
A powerful wide receiver, Madison Schleyer brings a load of experience and accomplishments to UT Arlington. As a member of the Loudoun Legends and VA Hurricanes, she became an All-American as a sophomore, a two-time Big33 Player, Offensive Player of the Year and MVP. The 14u Nationals Qualifier was also Briar Wood High School's Flag Football Ambassador. She has worked closely with the Loudoun County school board and staff to sanction flag football as a varsity sport. Schleyer will study social work at UTA.

TESSA DAVIS
QB, 5-9
Adelaide, Australia, Immanuel College


Quarterback, Tessa Davis, joins the Mavericks all the way from Australia, where she competed for the Australian National Team. Davis helped Australia earn a silver medal at the 2025 Asia Oceania Continental Championships and has been a member of the national team since 2024. She was also a Junior State Representative at National Championships for both Australian Rules Football and Cricket. Davis graduated from Immanuel College in December of 2024.
 
SHILOH JACKSON
WR/DB, 5-9
Houston, Texas/L.V. Hightower HS


Shiloh Jackson, wide receiver and defensive back, comes to UTA from Houston, Texas, where she attended L.V. Hightower High School. Jackson earned Player of the Week honors with the Houston Texans and served as the first captain of her flag football team, helping lead her squad to a runner-up finish in semifinals.
 
In the classroom, she was recognized for academic excellence, completed more than 200 hours of community service and was an AVID member. Jackson plans to major in pre-veterinary medicine.

 MYAH JACKMAN
 WR/DB, 5-9
 Germantown, Md./Northwest HS


Versatile playmaker, Myah Jackman, joins the Mavericks from Germantown, Maryland, where she attended Northwest High School. Jackman competed for the Loudoun Legends and earned recognition as a DMV Varsity Top 100 Women's Flag Football player, an All-American in the U.S Army Bowl and a two-time Big33 participant. She also earned Offensive MVP honors in high school while being recognized on the honor roll, serving as a team captain and receiving the Academic Excellence Award. Jackman plans to major in interior design/architecture.
 
 LEANNA NGUYEN
 WR, 5-4

 Sachse, Texas/Sachse HS
  
Wide receiver, Leanna Nguyen, joins UT Arlington from Sachse, Texas, where she attended Sachse High School. Nguyen competed for Heat Elite and Texas Fury DFW while also excelling in track & field, earning qualification to the 2025 AAU Regional meet. She was named a 2025 9-6A Honorable Mention selection and was a 2024 and 2025 area qualifier. Nguyen also earned first-place finishes in the 300-meter hurdles and 4x400-meter relay at the district level in 2022 and 2023. In the classroom, she received the 2025 AP Scholar Award and plans to major in kinesiology.
