ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington track & field team continued competition Friday at the WAC Track & Field Championships at Maverick Stadium, highlighted by a championship performance from Eliza Lemberga in the women's heptathlon.
Lemberga claimed UTA's first conference title of the weekend after totaling a personal-best of 5,558 points to win the event and earn 10 team points for the Mavericks.
UTA also received several key scoring performances throughout the second day of competition.
Arieanna Mcpeak earned a runner-up finish in the women's long jump after recording a mark of 5.88m, while Hayden Wilson placed second in the men's shot put with a throw of 16.37m.
In the men's decathlon, Christian Coker finished sixth overall with 5,750 points, and Noah Matthews added an eighth-place finish with 4,992 points.
Lucas Cano secured fourth place in the men's shot put with a mark of 15.63m, while Isaiha Pena placed seventh in the same event after throwing 15.20m.
UTA added more points in the men's long jump as Abisayo Gbakino finished fifth with a leap of 6.88m and Chastin Clark placed seventh with a personal-best 6.74m.
In the women's heptathlon, Carla Guerrero finished third overall with 4,711 points, and Grace Bettencourt added a fourth-place finish with 4,685 points.
The end of the day was highlighted by top eight finishes in the men's 3000m steeplechase – Kebede Kerlin earning a fifth-place personal-best at 9:15.04 and Kellen Frickel placing eighth, clocking in at 9:18.84.
NEXT UP
UTA will finish competition tomorrow at the WAC Track & Field Championships, starting at 11 a.m. with women's discus, followed by men's triple jump, pole vault and women's high jump at noon. Running event finals will take place tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m.m beginning with women's and men's 4x100-meter relay.
