STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team saw its season come to an end Thursday afternoon, falling to No. 4 Utah Valley, 5-1, in the quarterfinal round of the WAC Softball Tournament at Tarleton Softball Complex in Stephenville, Texas.
UTA was led at the plate by
Mia McNulty, going 2-for-3 with a double.
Peyton Holland also added a hit and scored UTA's lone run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The game remained scoreless through four innings before Utah Valley broke through in the bottom of the fifth. UVU's Angelique Mann grounded out to second base, scoring Emma Haygood from third, 1-0.
The Wolverines added to its advantage in the sixth inning. Haygood delivered a two-run double to left center, scoring Bailey Marvin and Kendyl Purdy to extend the lead to 3-0. Later in the inning, Britney Moreno singled to center field, driving in two more runs to make it 5-0.
UTA avoided the shutout in the top of the seventh as
Peyton Holland scored on a Utah Valley fielding error after
Marley Neises reached base.
Wolverines were able to hold the Mavericks to one run, taking the game at 5-1.
