ARLINGTON, Texas – After decades of dedicated service to UT Arlington Athletics, Senior Associate AD for Sports Medicine Roy Rudewick has announced his retirement, closing a remarkable chapter marked by leadership, commitment, and an unwavering dedication to student-athlete success.
Rudewick has earned lifetime recognition from professional organizations during his time at UTA, including induction into the Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association (SWATA) Hall of Fame in 2022. Rudewick received the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Service Award in 2019.

Roy's contributions extend far beyond his daily responsibilities — he helped build the culture and foundation that continue to move UTA Athletics forward. We are incredibly grateful for his years of service and wish him and his family all the best in retirement."
A 1989 graduate of UT Arlington, Rudewick has played a vital role in numerous areas across the department and University as a professor and helping support the operations and growth of UTA Athletics while serving as a trusted resource for coaches, staff, and student-athletes alike. His leadership and consistency helped guide the department through evolving eras of collegiate athletics while maintaining a strong focus on integrity, collaboration, and student success.
"It has been an honor to serve UTA Athletics and work alongside so many incredible people throughout my career," Rudewick said. "I'm thankful for the friendships, memories, and experiences that have made this journey so meaningful. My 42 years of connection with UTA will live on."
Rudewick's legacy will be felt throughout UTA Athletics for years to come, not only through the programs and initiatives he helped support, but also through the countless relationships he built during his time with the Mavericks.
