• Competed in three meets during her first season in Arlington.
• Placed 20th in the 400m at the Varsity Apartments Invitational with a season-best time of 1:01.37.
• Finished 25th in the 400m at the Texas A&M Invitational (1:01.78).
Outdoor Highlights:
2014
• Participated in the 800 meters in three meets on the year.
• Finished 16th in the prelims of the 800m at the Sun Belt Conference Championships (2:31.73).
• Had a season-best 800m time of 2:29.51 in a 14th-place showing at the Michael Johnson Classic.
HIGH SCHOOL
• Was the Class 3A state champion in the 800m in 2012.
• Finished as the state runner up in the 800m and took fourth in the 400m as a senior in 2013.
• Had personal bests of 2:15.29 in the 800m and 57.00 in the 400m.
• Also competed in powerlifting and basketball.
• Placed fourth in the region and 11th in the state in the 123-pound weight class for powerlifting.
• Personal bests include: bench press (145 pounds), squat (230 pounds) and dead lift (300 pounds).
PERSONAL
• Is the daughter of Martha & Antonio Ortega.
• Is a criminal justice major.
• Graduated fourth in her class and was a member of the National Honor Society.
