Matt McGann completed his third season as a Video Coordinator with the UT Arlington men’s basketball staff in 2021-22 after serving as a Graduate Assistant during the 2018-19 season.
McGann serves an important role in scouting upcoming opponents, as well as preparing and evaluating practice and game footage to educate each player for improvement of their performances. He also assists with creative content regarding features, social-media growth, promotional videos and marketing strategies within the team and staff.
McGann originally joined the staff in May 2018 as a graduate assistant after working three years at ESPN/DraftExpress as a content producer and video specialist directly under ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz. McGann worked on the creation of advanced scouting videos for ESPN’s social media pages, as well as graphics and NBA Draft Night production. He also produced, edited and served as a liaison for the international scouting website, DraftExpress.com for three years.
McGann earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Sports Media from Oklahoma State in 2017, where he received national awards from the Broadcast Educational Society and the National Broadcast Society for his productions.
A native of Euless, Texas, McGann graduated from Colleyville Heritage High School in 2013.
