Erin Arevalo joined the UTA softball coaching staff in July of 2021 as the assistant coach and pitching coach for the Mavericks.
Arevalo joins the Mavericks following one season at the University of Oklahoma as a volunteer assistant. In her one season with the Sooner, Arevalo helped coach OU to their fifth national championship in school history as they finished with a 56-4 record on the season.
Prior to joining the OU coaching staff, she worked at Indiana State for three seasons (2018-2020). During her first season with the Sycamores, she helped lead ISU to their best regular season conference finish since 1991. During that same season, Arevalo also helped pitcher Della Gher to the ninth-lowest opponent batting average for a season in program history (.252), along with the most team saves in school history (13). Gher also captured the most career saves in school history with 14.
Arevalo made her first collegiate coach stop at Samford University (2015-17) where she served as an assistant coach. While with the Bulldogs, she helped the program to its first SoCon regular season championship and SoCon tournament title during the 2016 season. The pitching staff posted nine shutout victories and a .250 opponent batting average under her leadership, to go with a conference-best team ERA of 3.22.
Arevalo was a standout pitcher at the University of Georgia, where she lettered for four seasons (2009-12). She was a member of Bulldogs squads that made Women's College World Series appearances in 2009 and 2010.
In 2010 she led the Bulldogs 50-13 record and a return appearance to the WCWS. Arevalo made 38 trips to the circle and tallied 20 wins, 14 complete games, a 2.51 ERA and 171 strikeouts as Georgia made it all the way to the WCWS semifinals.
Arevalo wrapped up her collegiate career in 2012 with her best season as she totaled 28 complete games and a 27-9 record. She ended the season ranked 19th nationally with a 1.43 ERA and 23rd with 270 strikeouts while only issuing 51 walks through 245 innings pitched. The Lathrop, California native was named NFCA All-American Third Team, NFCA All-Region Second Team, All-SEC Second Team and to the SEC All-Tournament Team in her final season.
She finished her career ranked fourth all-time in Georgia history with 476 strikeouts and was only the fourth pitcher in the program's history to eclipse the 200-strikeout mark in a season.
Arevalo earned her degree in psychology from UGA in 2012 and played two seasons of professional softball in the NPF with the Akron Racers from 2012-13.
